Please note when planning your journey, due to road works on the A1 (M1) guests coming from the south should be aware that our nearest junction is not currently open. We suggest you come off at J48 and travel to Masham via Ripon. If you are using Sat Nav it probably will not alter the route for you so you may need to deviate from its instructions. Our guests coming from the north should take the Masham/Leyburn turning as normal when leaving the A1 at the Bedale junction which is also under construction and subject to diversion.
Once you reach Masham we recommend that you take the route below as passing places have been provided to aid the journey on the narrow country roads that lead up to our site.
- As you approach Masham from the A1(M) or Ripon/Bedale ignore the left hand fork that is sign posted to the town centre and stay on the A6108, skirting round the edge of the town.
- Once you pass the Wendsleydale Garage on your right take the second left on to Fearby Rd.
- If approaching from Leyburn, turn right onto Fearby Road before you reach the centre of town.
- Carry on this road for just under 2 miles through the village of Fearby and pass the Black Swan pub on your left.
- Once you leave the village you will reach Kell Bank Primary School on your left and just before it take a sharp left down the hill.
- After you have crossed over a small bridge you will reach a T-Junction where you will need to turn right up the hill towards Ilton.
- At the top of the hill the road takes a sharp bend to the left follow it around and continue straight on.
- After half a mile turn right signposted to The Bivouac and Druid’s Temple.
- As you reach the top of the hill, the road comes to an end. Take the left hand turn down a rough track to the farm house and parking area
